How to Play Connections

In Connections, you are presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to group these words into four sets of four, based on the connections between them. The groups can range from categories like horror movie franchises to types of verbs or even rappers.

Each puzzle has only one solution, so be careful with words that might fit multiple categories. You can shuffle the words to help you spot potential links. Each group is color-coded, with yellow usually being the easiest, blue and green being intermediate, and purple typically the hardest, often involving wordplay.

Select four words you believe are connected and press Submit. If your guess is wrong, you’ll lose a life. If you’re close to forming a correct group, you might see a hint indicating you’re one word away. But remember, you’ll need to figure out the correct swap. Make four mistakes, and it’s game over. At first, I was drawn to FREQUENT and OFTEN, but soon realized that was a red herring. It took just a few more seconds to understand that FREQUENT had another relevant meaning, which helped me figure out the blues. Next, I tackled the greens, followed by the yellows, leaving the purple group, which was tricky but manageable.
