Over a busy working weekend, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan made significant strides in securing investment commitments from Saudi Arabia. His proactive approach and effective negotiations earned him praise from his hosts, who lauded him as ‘a man of action’.

The premier’s visit to Riyadh coincided with a special meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), where he engaged in crucial discussions with key Saudi officials. Among those he met were Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, Minister for Investment Khalid Al-Falih, Minister for Finance Mohammad Al Jadaan, and Minister for Industry Bandar bin Ibrahim Alkhourayef.

At a grand dinner hosted by the Saudi crown prince, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to MBS for dispatching a high-level delegation to Pakistan, led by Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah. He emphasized the importance of continued dialogue and collaboration between the two nations.

Highlighting Pakistan’s commitment to furthering bilateral ties, the prime minister underscored the significance of his accompanying delegation, comprising key ministers responsible for investment. This strategic move aimed to facilitate follow-up meetings and ensure sustained progress in discussions.

The Saudi Minister for Investment, Khalid Al-Falih, lauded Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s proactive approach, hailing him as ‘a man of action’. He expressed confidence in Pakistan’s potential and affirmed the shared goals of the two nations.

Finance Minister Mohammad Al Jadaan echoed this sentiment, announcing that a delegation of Saudi investors would soon visit Pakistan. He reiterated Saudi Arabia’s commitment to prioritizing investment in Pakistan, particularly in sectors such as agriculture, information technology, and energy.

Similarly, the Saudi Minister for Industry expressed keen interest in forging partnerships with Pakistan across various sectors, including agriculture, mining, and information technology. He revealed ongoing discussions with private Saudi companies regarding potential investments in Pakistan, indicating promising prospects for future collaboration.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s successful visit to Riyadh underscores Pakistan’s commitment to fostering strong economic ties with Saudi Arabia.
